Once operational the FPA will process up to 205,000 tonnes of waste per annum of commercial and industrial waste to produce refuse derived fuel (“RDF”) as well as to recover recyclates. The incoming waste will be shredded to reduce its size and then have recyclable materials such as plastics, cardboard, paper and metal removed by passing the shredded waste through a combination of automated or manual processes. Following the removal of recyclates and a small portion of waste which will be sent to landfill, the remaining RDF will be available for use in thermal treatment via the gasification plant on-site.
